MW Gallery is the permanent home of the Mott-Warsh Collection (MWC). MW Gallery is always free and open to the general public.
Our Mission: We provide a welcoming environment for engagement with fine art created by artists of the African diaspora and those who reflect on it. Our Vision: Art can be a catalyst for cultural awareness, creative thinking, and self-empowerment. MW Gallery opened in 2016 and features expansive exhibitions drawn from the Mott-Warsh Collection. Current Exhibition
Opening September 11th - In the Eye of the BeholderMW Gallery proudly presents In the Eye of the Beholder, an all-media exhibition drawn from the Mott-Warsh Collection. Opening Friday, September 11, the exhibit continues to celebrate the journey the Mott-Warsh Collection began 25 years ago: amplifying artists’ creative voices and expanding public access to compelling art by artists of the African diaspora.
Selected from the collection’s more than 1,100 objects, In the Eye of the Beholder features works by distinguished artists including Al Loving, Allie McGhee, Derrick Adams, Ed Clark, Elizabeth Catlett, Emma Amos, Howardena Pindell, Jack Whitten, Kerry James Marshall, Mildred Thompson, Omar Victor Diop, Pat Ward Williams, Romare Bearden, Shirley Woodson Reid, Souleymane Keita, Titus Kaphar, and Yinka Shonibare, among others. The works in this presentation reflect on the essence of human connection—the invisible threads that bind us together. These bonds extend from friends and family to artists and their subjects, as well as among artists, curators, and collectors. Together, the artworks invite viewers to explore personal and shared perceptions of beauty, belonging, and connection. |

Every 2nd Friday 6:00PM - 9:00PM Every 2nd Friday MW Gallery joins with other venues in downtown Flint to provide an evening of art and entertainment with special extended hours and exciting arts programs! Midday at MW: Daily Guided Tours Thursday - Saturday 12:00PM (noon) Join us at MW Gallery for a guided tour of the current exhibit of the Mott-Warsh Collection each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 12:00PM. Led by knowledgeable gallery staff, you will discuss general themes and ideas related to the works on display and explore highlights of the current exhibit. |
